Senior
Investment and Operations Manager

The leading commercial Bank in Montserrat is seeking to fill the
position of Senior Investments and Operations Manager.  

The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the bank’s
investment portfolio, including the research, selection and presentation of all
investment credits for approval by the Investment Committee/Board, and updating
of the IPS, assist the General Manager in the formulation of the bank’s overall
business strategies and to design, implement, develop and improve on the
systems, workflows and procedures necessary to meet the requirements of both
customers and the bank, act as project lead on all major project
implementations.

Main Areas of responsibility: Investment management, business development,
project management and banking operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

  • Prepare the basis for
    decisions on investment management to be taken to the Investment Committee and
    advice on matters concerning changes in investment strategy, asset classes, asset
    allocation, investment risk, investment limits and other operating parameters
    for the funds and portfolio under management
  • Responsible for
    providing well–founded and documented advice on investment strategy and other
    aspects of investment management
  • Ensure timely and
    effective liquidity management and the profitable and efficient administration
    of the Bank’s investment portfolio
  • Provide strategic
    direction in Investments
  • Keep investment policy
    current, annually
  • Advice the General Manager/Investment Committee/Board on Investment opportunities

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Working with the GM to
    conceptualize and implement new product lines and continuous product development
  • Assist with managing the
    various departments performance and development to meet the bank’s target
  • Assist with the
    implementation of measures to increase key financial and operational performance
  • Assist in selling and
    delivering products and services to the Bank’s
    customers
  • Participate in sales and
    marketing efforts

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Manage and coordinate
    the implementation of all new and existing projects undertaken by the bank –
    new systems, regulatory requirements, products and services.
  • Prepare the project plan
    and cost-benefit analysis for all new projects.
  • Spearhead the
    implementation of the Bank’s strategic and business plans
  • Updating of departmental
    manuals – Operations, HR and Investment Policy.

BANKING OPERATIONS

To provide guidance to
the Operations Manager in the following areas of Bank Operations:

  • Customer Service & Sales
  • Operations
    Management
  • Credit
    Risk Management
  • Human
    Resources management

KEY POSITION COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Extensive knowledge of
    investment products, services, and strategies

    • Certified Financial Analyst
      certification preferred
    • Series 6, 7, 9, 10 63 & 66 certification or
      similar certification such as ECSM
      certification and licensee
      as a principal representative, or an
      investment adviser
      highly preferred
    • Familiarity with the principles and operations of the
      Eastern Caribbean Securities Market (ECSM)
    • Thorough understanding
      of investment portfolio management in a bank environment
    • Excellent knowledge of
      bank products and services
    • Good knowledge of Rules
      and Regulations relating to Banking
      in the ECCU
  • Extensive knowledge of
    Retail Banking operations

    • Good knowledge of
      computers and computer programs such as Word, Excel, etc
    • Leadership and
      managerial capability
    • Profit and business oriented
    • Sales and service oriented
    •  

Candidates should have at least 10 years’
banking experience with a minimum 5 years’ experience at a senior management
level in Operations, Investment Banking and Credit.

They should have a good understanding of
financial markets, financial instruments and risk management policies,
procedures and practices.

Candidates must also have a proven track
record of analytical and investigative skills.

A University Degree, preferably an MBA is
required.

The Candidate should also be acquainted with
the latest trends in Banking and shall have exposure to latest
Technology/changes in the Banking Industry and should possess requisite
expertise to provide corporate excellence.
