David Gardner Profile

Armed with a solid handle on fifth grade math and an amateur love of investing instilled in him by his father, David Gardner and his brother, Tom, founded The Motley Fool in 1993, an investment advice newsletter, which has since grown into one of the most beloved financial on-line communities in the world.

David and his work for the Fool helps ordinary people grow their wealth through making educated investments rather than becoming sheep on Wall Street. He is also the inventor of Motley Fool CAPS, a revolutionary service which pools the resources of the Motley Fool Community to help you identify the best stocks at the best times to buy them — and which stocks to avoid.

Since 1999, David has been a member of the NYSE’s Individual Investors Advisory Committee. Since 2004, he has served on the Board of Governors of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. His top stock picks can be read in the recently launched online newsletter, “Supernova” which puts his suggestions into two portfolios: “Odyssey” for aggressive investors and “Phoenix” for people closer to retirement.
