BT Global Services has appointed José Antonio Martinez as the new managing director of BT Radianz and Payments.
As Managing Director, Radianz & Payments, José Antonio Martinez is responsible for a platform that connects 15,000 financial customer locations around the world, providing traders and others with near-immediate access to more than 400 of the world’s leading providers of financial content and services. Among those whose content and services are accessible are the top 10 global stock exchanges, the top 50 global broker-dealers and 48 of the top 50 global asset managers.
He is also responsible for the managed secure messaging services that underpin BT’s settlement, clearing and payment services. BT was among the first to offer settlement messaging services when CREST was launched in the UK in 1996. Successors of this original service now support the exchange of high-value bank-to-corporate payments and other financial supply chain transactions.
José Antonio was appointed to his current role in January 2011, having previously been the Sales and Strategy Director responsible for BT’s business with financial services organisations across Spain and Latin America.
He joined BT in 1999 from Proyex Telecom SA, a regional telecom service provider headquartered in Zaragoza, Spain, where he had been Head of Operations.
After joining BT, he spent 20 months as a senior account director responsible for business with transport companies and utilities before being appointed sales manager responsible for business with financial firms and insurance companies in Spain.
After almost three years as Head of Global Financial Services for two regions – EMEA & Latam – José Antonio was appointed Sales and Strategy Director – Finance Sector and given parallel responsibility for the delivery of ‘Maracaibo’, BT’s strategic plan for the development of its business in Latin America.
José Antonio gained his MSc in Electrical Engineering from Zaragoza University in 1995 and completed a business administration course at C.A.I. in 1996. He received his masters degree in marketing from ESADE Business School in Barcelona in 1997.
