Most people have imagined what it would be like to catch a lucky break, whether that’s winning the lottery or landing a dream job, but could where you live affect your chances?

Well, the answer is, not really. Things like lotteries and raffles, are just completely random. But for a bit of fun, slots and bingo website, Slingo, investigated the luckiest locations.

Delving into their database of players, they revealed the places and postcodes which have, statistically, seen the most winners across their games, naming two East Sussex locations among them.

The UK’s luckiest locations

The luckiest place in the UK, according to Slingo stats is Salford. The Greater Manchester city was followed by a much smaller town, West Malling in Kent, and then by Eastbourne in East Sussex.

Hove also made it into the top 10, coming in at number four.

The UK’s luckiest postcode

They also took a look at People’s Postcode Lottery data to find out which are the luckiest postcodes to live.

2. TF (Telford)

3. SY (Shrewsbury)

4. DL (Darlington)

5. LL (Llandudno)

6. TA (Taunton)

7. LA (Lancaster)

8. TQ (Torquay)

9. SA (Swansea)

10. HR (Hereford)

While bigger postcodes such as Birmingham and Sheffield had the most wins overall, when looking at the wins per capita, it was Exeter taking the luckiest top spot, with 82.9 Postcode Lottery wins per 100,000 people.
